Acceptable Use Policy
Effective date: 06/12/2026
This Acceptable Use Policy (“AUP”) is incorporated into the Terms of Service and governs your use of PlotCipher. Violations may result in account suspension or termination, removal of content, and reporting to law enforcement.
Prohibited activities
You agree not to use the Service to:
A. Misuse of platform data and outputs
- Scrape, crawl, mass-download, or systematically extract data, except via our published API at the documented rate limits;
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to derive source code, model weights, or training data;
- Resell, sublicense, or otherwise redistribute PlotCipher data, scores, memos, or other outputs to third parties without a separate written agreement;
- Use PlotCipher outputs to train competing AI models;
- Use the Service primarily to compete with PlotCipher;
- Display PlotCipher data publicly without attribution where attribution would be commercially material.
B. Violations of real-estate-specific law
- Use the Service or owner data to engage in steering, redlining, blockbusting, or other practices prohibited by the Fair Housing Act, Texas Property Code §301, or analogous state laws;
- Use AI-drafted owner letters, scripts, or outreach in violation of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), CAN-SPAM, state Do-Not-Call lists, state anti-skip-trace laws, or state real-estate-licensing laws;
- Hold yourself out as a licensed broker, agent, or appraiser based on PlotCipher outputs if you are not licensed;
- Engage in unauthorized practice of law (UPL) — generating “legal” documents, contracts, or opinions for others using the Service when you are not licensed;
- Misrepresent PlotCipher data, scores, or memos to property owners, sellers, lenders, investors, or partners (e.g., presenting an AI-generated “Acquisition Memo” as a third-party appraisal).
C. Harassment, surveillance, and harmful uses
- Stalk, harass, dox, threaten, or surveil any individual using owner data displayed on the Service;
- Use the Service for any purpose that could reasonably cause harm to the safety, privacy, or property of any person;
- Use the Service to plan, support, or commit any crime.
D. Technical abuse
- Upload, transmit, or distribute malicious code, viruses, worms, or similar harmful software;
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service, other users' accounts, or our systems (including penetration testing without prior written authorization via mark@tryplotcipher.com);
- Probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of our systems or networks except via our coordinated disclosure process;
- Use the Service to send spam or unsolicited bulk communications.
E. AI-specific abuses
- Submit prompts designed to extract our system instructions, model weights, or other confidential information;
- Use the Service to generate content that infringes third-party intellectual property, violates privacy, defames, or constitutes illegal harassment;
- Use AI Outputs to make automated decisions about third parties without meaningful human review;
- Use AI Outputs in connection with high-risk decisions (e.g., loan underwriting, tenant screening) that may trigger fair-lending or fair-housing scrutiny without independent compliance review;
- Remove or obscure the inline “AI-assisted estimate” labels and confidence indicators when representing AI Outputs to third parties (see AI Use Policy §7).
F. High-risk decisions — explicit carve-outs
PlotCipher is decision-support software for professional real-estate use only. You agree not to use PlotCipher outputs to:
- screen residential or commercial tenants (Fair Credit Reporting Act applies — PlotCipher is not a Consumer Reporting Agency and outputs are not “consumer reports”);
- make residential-mortgage, consumer-credit, insurance, or housing decisions adverse to a consumer (FCRA, ECOA, Fair Housing Act, and analogous state-law obligations apply to your downstream decision and are not satisfied by reliance on PlotCipher outputs);
- set rental prices in a manner that would constitute illegal coordination, algorithmic price-fixing, or anti-trust violation under any applicable law;
- make employment, lending, education, or government-benefit decisions about any individual;
- support marketing or solicitation to consumers who have opted out of contact via state DNC lists or federal CAN-SPAM/TCPA mechanisms;
- provide any output to a residential consumer (someone purchasing a home for personal occupancy) for use as a buying decision input — PlotCipher is for professional acquisition workflows, not consumer real-estate shopping.
If you need real-estate intelligence for any use case listed above, you must build your own compliance review process; PlotCipher accepts no liability for its outputs being used outside the professional acquisition context the platform is designed for.
Permitted security research
We welcome good-faith security research. If you discover a vulnerability, report it confidentially to mark@tryplotcipher.com before disclosing publicly. Reports that follow responsible-disclosure norms will be treated as authorized testing under the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act and analogous state laws. We commit to a 90-day disclosure timeline and reasonable acknowledgment.
Enforcement
We may investigate suspected violations, suspend or terminate accounts, remove content, report violations to law enforcement, and cooperate with court orders. We will use reasonable judgment and provide notice where doing so does not endanger investigation integrity or third-party safety.
Reporting violations
To report a suspected AUP violation, email mark@tryplotcipher.com with details. We do not share reporter identity with the reported party except as required by law.
